ABOUT MORNINGTON PENINSULA

Choice and Convenience

Sophisticated, diverse and indulgent…
Just an hour from Melbourne, you may think you have left Australia behind. Dotted with historic coastal villages and lying neatly between the wild surf coast of Bass Strait and the wonderful swimming beaches of Port Phillip Bay, the Mornington Peninsula is a diverse and compact regional jewel. You can indulge every sense all year round.
It neighbours Phillip Island, French Island and Western Port Bay. A quick ferry trip will take you to Queenscliff.

On the bay side of the Peninsula, you will discover the cosmopolitan and historical town of Sorrento and the playground for the rich and famous in Portsea. On the other side of the Peninsula is the charming nineteenth century fishing town of Flinders.

Inland you will discover the magnificent olive groves, orchards and more than 170 vineyards, which produce award winning wines, as well as local produce prepared by well renowned chefs and served in fabulous restaurants and sold at local markets. For the most panoramic view across the bay to Melbourne, visit the highest point at Arthur's Seat.

Attractions and activities are endless - play a round at golf courses designed to capture the natural beauty of the terrain and to test the most skilful golfer, soak up the sun on a tranquil sandy beach, swim with the dolphins in Port Phillip Bay, sink into a thermal pool for a complete mind, body and spiritual experience, take a fishing or scuba diving adventure, stroll through a historic garden or a maze, go horse riding along wild coastline or bush walking and bird watching in more than 25,000 hectares of unspoilt National Park. The Mornington Peninsula is paradise for the nature lover and adventure seeker.

There is accommodation to suit everyone's style and budget. From cliff-top mansions to luxurious beach houses and apartments, camping on the foreshore as well as hotels and motels, guesthouses and backpacker hostels.
